We are proud to announce Temperley Taylor is now Cyber Essentials Plus Certified. This certification recognises our commitment to keeping our organisation protected from a range of cyber threats and attacks as well as demonstrating that we are being proactive in keeping our client's information safe and secure.
As is the nature of our organisation, we are regularly handling sensitive information, whether that be through our family law cases, child care proceedings, conveyancing transactions , wills and probate services and we know the importance of keeping this data safe.
We wanted to go above and beyond when it came to protecting the business's information and that of our clients, so we opted to not only be certified for Cyber Essentials (CE) but Cyber Essential Plus (CE+) which included an additional hands-on technical verification.
CE+ involves a rigorous two-fold process, the first element of which involved a full audit of our IT structure including cloud-based servers. Following this audit, it was our responsibility to act on any required remediations to ensure the system complied with CE obligations before these changes were scrutinised by the CE accredited certification body who ultimately determined if the certification was awarded.
Secondly all elements of the certified IT system were then subjected to external penetration testing by an approved testing company over a number of days. Penetration testing involves simulating a cyber-attack and is one of the most effective methods of evaluating a security system. Once completed the report was submitted to the certification body for review and we are thrilled to share that we flew through the accreditation process.
The certification has enabled us to ensure we are protected from the most common cyber attacks, which is important due to the fact that vulnerability to these smaller attacks can make you a target for larger more organised, cyber attacks.
Alan Cryne, Managing Partner, had this to say about our commitment to cyber security,
Over the last few of years, we have been constantly improving our IT provision and in doing so realized how quickly technology and its use was changing in the business environment and with this the inherent threats involved in such as increasing Cybercrime . We decided to undertake the CE+ process as part of a holistic IT security review as we wanted to work to ensure the safety of both ours and our clients business activities.
It’s a particularly prevalent time to invest in our cyber security due to the rising number of cyber-attacks across the world. Just this year findings from the Cyber Security Breaches Survey showed that 39% of UK businesses identified cyber breaches or attacks in the last 12 months. These attacks are often carried out anonymously and can have huge implications for businesses and their customers not only from a financial point of view but the ongoing ramifications of fraud too.
Online and digital technology is at the heart of nearly every organisation that exists, and it's only right that we as a business take the appropriate steps to keep up with sophisticated technologies and make sure we have the correct expertise and security protocols in place to stop cyber attacks from occurring in the first place.
We hope this will help reassure new and existing clients that we actively take steps to protect from cyber threats and have intricate cyber security measures in place, with an ongoing focus on protecting all information we handle.
